Bridgeport News: Arrest Made In Last Night’s Arson
Bridgeport, Conn. (March 17, 2015) – The city will help rebuild a community building damaged by a fire Monday at the Reservoir Avenue Community Farm. The building was significantly damaged Monday night. “I believe in Green Village Initiative and its mission. We’re committed to rebuilding. This is such an important community asset,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “This garden knits people together and makes a stronger community, and we will do everything we can to support residents to make the neighborhood farm better than ever.” Jorge Garcia, the city’s director of Public Facilities, said the damaged one-story building will be razed. Bridgeport News: Community Gardens Office Torched
9:37pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters were called to a fire at the corner of Yaremich and Reservoir Avenue, almost immediately police received a call that the fire had been deliberately set and to begin an investigation. When firefighters arrived they reported the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters had quickly knocked the fire down and was checking for hot spots when I arrived about ten minutes later. Multiple witnesses told me and police it was "Jimmy the Crackhead" started the fire. The community was upset because the structure was the office for their community garden.
