Westport News: Wedding Gift Thief Arrested

#Westport CT— Westport Police today announced the arrest of Frank A. Burnett, 30 of Mansfield CT in connection with the October 10th wedding at The Inn at Longshore in Westport. On October 11,2014 at approximately 7pm, a suspect entered the Inn at Longshore posing as a wedding guest and proceeded to steal an ornamental bird cage which was being used to collect congratulatory cards containing checks and cash for the newlyweds. The suspect was captured on video surveillance fleeing through the lobby of the Inn at Longshore carrying the bird cage filled with envelopes and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash / checks. Burnett was later identified after video surveillance of the theft was released to news media outlets. Westport Police Detective Bureau received numerous tips identifying Burnett as…
