Multiple online sources say the term "cool" was said to have been popularized in jazz circles by tenor saxophonist Lester Young in 1933. The Laborde-Gelman Co. Store at 1138-1144 Main Street in Bridgeport may have this first honor. Here is an advertisement in the Bridgeport Farmer newspaper dated June 20, 1910 saying the store is cool.
