Malloy To Back Sunday Liquor Sales

HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has supported selling alcohol on Sunday.  “It’s embarrassing Connecticut was only one of two states in the nation that has not allowed Sunday sales,” he said, adding that it is a loss of revenue to liquor stores here. According to the Washington, D.C.-based Distilled Spirits Council, Connecticut also loses $8 million annually in tax revenue due to the lack of Sunday alcohol sales.  Read full story…

Candle Suspected In Bridgeport Fire

An unattended candle is suspected in a fire that broke out at 111 Maple Street around 8:30pm Saturday night.  Quick action by firefighters confined the fire to a third story window frame despite a windy cold night.  Olivia Bell, the tenant of the second and third floor was taking her daughter out of the bathtub when the smoke alarm alerted her.  She saw smoke fill her bedroom and she gathered the children and ran into the frigid night air.    Assistant Fire Chief Richard Thode said the firefighters will cover the window over with tar paper and the tenants will be able to remain in the home.

Is Sonia Baghdady Leaving WTNH?

Sonia's Modeling Portfolio on ddNickle.com

Judging from this post on WTNH’s website it looks as if they are looking for a news anchor to replace Sonia Baghdady.   The post says: ” You’ll be anchoring most of your newscasts sitting next to this guy, Darren Kramer (Go ahead and take a peek, I’ll make it easy: http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/news_team/darren_kramer)”.  The anchor that works with Darren is Sonia.   This is sometimes a negotiation tactic to scare talent that they are looking for a replacement.

Soinia Baghdady joined WTNH in December 2002 and has anchors the weekday evening shows “News 8″ at 5pm, 5:30 and 11pm.  Sonia is a graduate of Fairfield University and her sister Amanda Baghdady, a biology teacher at Bethel High School, in Bethel, Connecticut.  Sonia has also modeled and Sonia’s portfolio can be found online  at d.d.
