Governor to Launch No Kid Hungry Summer Meals Program

Today Governor Malloy held a news conference with Connecticut No Kid Hungry to launch the 2014 Summer Meals Program and promote the availability of free or reduced-priced lunches to children during the summer months.  While Connecticut ranks fourth in the nation for number of children participating in the free summer meals programs, only 26 percent of low-income children in Connecticut who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year participated in summer meals programs last year.  Also participating in the event will be Congresswoman Rose DeLauro and state Department of Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor.

Bridgeport News: Punched In The Face And Robbed

5:40pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A man was outside the Xtra Mart at 540 Boston Avenue, punched in the face and had $100 taken from him.  The suspect fled in a red Ford, the victim got a plate number but it comes back to a different car.  Police are investigating.   If take your motorcycle or quad out tomorrow and the battery is dead, see Larry at Interstate Battery at 125 Holland Ave, Bridgeport. GOV. MALLOY: STATE RECEIVES FEDERAL GRANT TO IMPROVE UPON QUALITY AND AVAILABILITY OF WORKFORCE DATA

    (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor has been awarded $823,791 in federal funding that will be used to continue efforts to build a database linking workforce and education data.   The Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) grant, awarded by the US Department of Labor, will allow the state to continue work on a longitudinal database that will allow the state to conduct research and analysis to better determine the effectiveness of workforce and education programs and to develop tools that better inform customers about the benefits of the publicly-funded workforce system.   “This grant will help us improve upon the quality and availability of workforce data,” said Governor Malloy. …
