Here is the police press release on the shots fired arrests we reported as it was happening New Years Eve/Day: #Bridgeport, CT – Jan. 2, 2014 – Police arrested a convicted felon after hearing a large volley of gunfire four minutes into the New Year. Officer David Uliano was assigned to the New Years shots fired detail when, at 12:04 a.m., he heard a series of gunshots and saw muzzle flashes from the back yard of a Maple Street home. The shots were still being fired when Uliano and Officer Luis Moura, with their own weapons drawn, ordered the men to drop the weapons. 9:15pm--#Bridgeport CT--A man was robbed at gunpoint by two males in what else but hoodies taking the mans cellphone on Beechwood Avenue. The suspects fled down Wood Avenue.
9:50pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters on the way to 273 Pearl Harbor Street for a possible structure fire. UPDATE--Turns out to be food burning on the stove, but no one was home and firefighters had to force entry.
9:40pm--#Westport CT #Fairfield CT #cttraffic--Report of a crash I-95 southbound between exits 18 and 19 although nothing found on the traffic cameras. Report of 4 injured occupants with in one person with a head injury. UPDATE--Reports now say near Westport town line a four car accident and a bus.

5:50pm--#Fairfield CT--Firefighters on the way to 2825 Burr Street where a fire in the fireplace is reported to be out of control. The fire shattered the glass panels in front and has extended into the living room.
#Bridgeport, CT – Jan. 2, 2014)– Two rooming house neighbors were charged with assaulting each other over a dispute over the ownership of eggs. Officer Kenneth Ruge responded to 743 Iranistan Ave. on an assault report. He spoke with Frank Wright, 53, who stated that he was making ham and eggs in a common kitchen area when another tenant, Phillip Jackson, 25, started yelling, stating that the eggs belonged to him. Wright said Jackson then picked up a baseball bat and struck Wright’s right hand with it. His hand was swollen and bleeding. Police subsequently located Jackson a few houses away. He had a small abrasion near his right ear. He told police that he exited his bedroom and saw Wright preparing…
Josua Delvecchio (dob 5/15/94) of Madison, CT a Fairfield University student was arrested on 1/2/14 at 10:30 am at the Fairfield Police Department. Delvecchio was charged with Sexual Assault 1st Assault 3rd that she had been sexually assaulted on campus by someone previously unknown to her. The victim sought treatment at a local hospital and was treated for injuries. During the two month long investigation evidence was examined and witnesses were interviewed, which supported the victim’s complaint. Some of the evidence included electronic communication which Delvecchio engaged in with other students. Other evidence was gathered with the assistance and cooperation of Fairfield University Public Safety and Administrators. Police are investigating the death of a 10-day-old child. Police say there are no outward signs of a suspicious death. Police will await the autopsy results from the medical examiner before drawing any conclusions. Police processed the scene out of an abundance of caution. The sex of the child is not being released. The incident occurred on Fairview Avenue, a block from St. Vincent's Hospital.
