4 Alarm Fire In Bridgeport

Bridgeport firefighters responded to a large fire in the 1600 block of East Main Street that started in the back of a building and spread to the adjacent building. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and stayed on scene to make sure everything was fully out. No injuries were reported, and everyone inside—including pets—was able to get out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and additional crews were called in to give firefighters a break during the long response. Knife-Point Robbery Sparks Pursuit

The Bridgeport Police arrested two men from the New Haven area on Thursday after they robbed the Gala Foods Supermarket at 1457 Fairfield Avenue at knifepoint and then engaged officers in a motor vehicle pursuit.  Osvaldo Beard-Beltran 30, of North Haven, was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Assault in the Third Degree, Threatening in the Second Degree, Breach of Peace in the Second Degree, Larceny in the Sixth Degree, Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle and Engaging Police in a Pursuit.
