Bridgeport crime report

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING; NO INJURIES REPORTED

On September 2, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m., the Bridgeport Police Department received a complaint of an active street fight involving a suspect reportedly armed with a knife in the 600 block of Grand Street. Responding officers encountered the suspect, who fled into an apartment. The suspect subsequently fired multiple rounds through the apartment door at the responding officers. An officer returned fire. The suspect was taken into custody. No officers or civilians were injured, and there is currently no threat to the public. The area of Grand Street and Catherine Street is blocked off until further notice.
