Police and EMTs on the scene of a stabbing on Iranistan Ave.

Update–Press release from Mayor’s Office:

Bridgeport Police received a call at 10:17 p.m. on July 6, for a report of assault with a weapon at 740 Iranistan Avenue. On arrival, police found one man suffering from a stab wound to the left side. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Wayne Cooper, 35, of Iranistan Avenue was taken into custody and charged with assault in the first degree.

According to police, it is believed the two men are brothers and that the attack was an outgrowth of some sort of argument that happened earlier in the day.

The incident is still under investigation; there are no further details at this time.

Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred shortly after 10 this Wednesday night.   Witnesses tell us that police were there earlier this evening (unconfirmed) for a verbal argument.  Apparently things got out of hand and one man is behind bars and another at St. Vincent’s Hospital for a stabbing to his upper chest.  Police say the victim was in and out of consciousness when paramedics took charge.
