Fairfield Firefighters were on scene at 779 Stratfield Road right before 7pm Sunday night for a very stubborn chimney fire.  Firefighters said the chimney is very large and has 4 flues.  They suspect heavy creasoe was to blame.  Firefighters first tried to contain the blaze with portable fire extinguishers but had to resort to a hose when the flames persisted.  The fire department departed the scene at 9:50pm.
