Pasquale captured this photo of the cars on fire at James Street.

Bridgeport-At 11:06pm Sunday night fire officials received a call regarding a two car accident with one car on fire  on James Street near Washington Ave.    When fire officials arrived on scene they realized they could not battle the blaze because a power line had fallen onto one of the vehicles.  They immediately called United Illuminating  for an emergency crew to secure power immediately.  Fire officials determined that all occupants were safely out of the vehicles and then called for additional police to help secure the scene and to block off roads.  Fire officials called dispatch again as they were concerned that embers from the car fire were blowing towards nearby homes.  Dispatch informed the firefighters that the estimated arrival would be about a half hour.  UI crews were busy all day long with down trees, lines, and blown transformers.  At 11:45 radio calls indicated that UI had arrived on scene.  At 11:52 firefighters called in that the second car involved in the accident was also on fire.  Firefighters had the blaze out before midnight and called in the recall.  As you can see by the photo captured by Pasquale, the flames were quite high.
