Two children were hit by a sports utility vehicle on Central Avenue at the corner of Barnum Ave. Friday night just after 8pm. Connecticut Post is reporting one of the children suffered possible life threatening injuries. Witnesses we spoke to on scene confirmed that one of he children did not appear to be breathing for a while, but after they prayed for him he began breathing and responded when they told him not to move. All witnesses we spoke to said the driver fled the scene claiming he was chasing the vehicle that hit the children. Shoes, hats and other garments the children were wearing were scattered all over the roadway from the impact. Bridgeport Hospital is on this block and the children were transported there. The road remained closed as police reconstructed the scene.
