Fire Damages Abandoned Factory In Bridgeport

Shortly after 8:30pm Tuesday evening firefighters were called to Stratford Avenue and Kossuth Street for a structure fire. It turned out the be the former AGI Rubber Comanpy at 141 Stratford Avenue, the building which according to the sign is under foreclosure. A report filed by Tom Cleary of the Connecticut Post interviewed Assistant Fire Chief William Hathaway who said "the fire got into the walls of the building and spread". Revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps For The Shoreline Area of Fairfield

The maps are due to become effective in May of 2013. The impact of these new maps may include additions or modifications of special flood hazard areas, changes in base flood elevations or depths, and flood zone designation changes. FEMA has published notice of the proposed flood hazard determinations on June 8, 2012 in the Connecticut Post. Arson/Shooting/Stabbing in Bridgeport

Shortly after 1pm Monday firefighters received a call of a porch fire on Lewis Street.  Police also received a call of a shooting on Iranistan Avenue near State Street.  It didn't take long for them to realize the two calls were connected.   Apparently tenants on the third floor on Lewis Street along with a person who frequents the apartment have been arguing.  The fire was set on the porch and then a pulling of a knife and subsequent shooting on Iranistan Ave.  Police searched the side and backyard on Lewis Street for the firearm.  Police have two suspects in custody and continue their investigation.

School bus video shows agent firing gun at suspect, bus driver calming students

Trumbull/Bridgeport--Two weeks after a police shooting on Old Town Road that was witnessed by dozens of students on a Frenchtown School bus, school Transportation Director Dawn Perkins is still awed by the calm demeanor and quick actions of bus driver Ralph Cerulo. "He was thinking about the kids the entire time," Perkins said. Perkins recently allowed the Trumbull Times to view video footage from two Trumbull school buses that were at the scene when federal agents attempted to capture Jeffrey Thomas, 21, who had earlier fled police looking into gang-related activity in the area.
