(Bridgeport, CT – June 18, 2013) – A city police officer was injured while assisting a suicidal woman Monday.

Officers Jeffrey Franco and Jose Paz were sent to a house in the 600 block of Arctic Street on a report of a suicidal person at about 5:15 a.m.

Franco was the first to arrived and found the woman standing on a ledge about 15 feet off the ground. He attempted to calm the woman and talk her off the ledge but she was uncooperative and jumped. She landed on Franco, who suffered an injury to his knee.

The woman suffered an ankle injury. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
