(Bridgeport, CT – Aug. 12, 2013) – A Bloomfield man was injured after he accidentally shot himself in the groin.

Officer Luis Moura was sent to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday on a report of a person shot. Moura alerted other officers that the injury appeared to have been self inflicted and that victim’s car and the firearm were on Edgemore Road.

Officer Christopher Robinson responded there and, with the assistance of the fire department, gained access to the car and secured the loaded .40-caliber handgun and other evidence.

The victim had a license to carry the gun. No charges were filed but the gun was taken to police headquarters for safe keeping.
