Hello, my name is Alyson and I am one of the victims of the fire at 235 French Street in Bridgeport this past Friday. First I wanted to thank the police, firefighters, neighbors and U-Haul that all came to our assistance that morning. My fiancé and I could have lost a lot more than just our belongings. The main reason I am writing is that I feel that everyone should be made aware of one of my neighbors who went above and beyond to help us. Councilman Angel dePara Jr. recently moved off French Street and while he was a neighbor was always helpful when we had a problem. I was informed by Red Cross that Councilman dePara went out of his way to contact us and see what supplies and help we may be in need of. On Friday evening Angel and his girlfriend Randi Jimenez stopped by with food for us and helped for hours as we emptied our apartment of the belongings we could salvage. They helped pack up our stuff and even with the loading the U-Haul truck way into the night. I felt that I needed to give him some sort of recognition as I am sure that while most people may ask what a fire victim may be in need of, Councilman Angel dePara went above and beyond to help us in our hour of need.
