#Bridgeport, CT – March 17, 2014 – A city woman faces charges after threatening a neighbor with a knife and pot of boiling peas.
The victim and suspect both live in a rooming house at 941 Noble Ave. The victim, 57, told Officers Thomas Kristy and Michael Stanitis that he provided some food to the suspect to prepare for him because she is a good cook. But when he returned to the common kitchen, the suspect, Mercedes Bowman, 35, started to throw his food out. She then threatened him with a kitchen knife and to throw a pot of boiling water on him.
He returned to his room and contacted police. Police were able to corroborate his account through a witness.
Bowman was charged with threatening and breach of peace.
