(Bridgeport, CT – July 9, 2014) – A 35-year-old man was stabbed Tuesday night in the area of Harral Avenue and James Street.

Officer Ferdinand Ferrao spoke with the victim, Freitas Valedsac, of Bridgeport, who stated that he was in area when a male walked up to him and asked him for a cigarette. The victim stated he told the man that he had no cigarettes and was asked if he had any money. According to the victim, he again replied no. At that point, he said, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the upper chest and leg. He was treated at Saint Vincent’s Hospital. Medical personnel described the puncture wounds a non-life threatening.
