On Friday, October 16, 2026, a complainant came to police headquarters wishing to report an incident that had occurred on Thursday, October 15. What was determined to be the victim in this incident reported that they had recently ended a relationship with Vanderval Ferreria. This apparently upset Ferreira who made several telephone calls and sent several threatening text messages over a period of days. These messages included threats to kill the victim. The victim eventually agreed to meet with Ferreira and entered a vehicle that he was operating. Ferreria was reportedly driving extremely erratically through various Westport roads causing the victim to attempt to exit the vehicle in fear. When the victim attempted to exit, Ferreria allegedly began striking them as well as physically restraining them to prevent this from happening. Ferreria reportedly continued driving erratically while this assault was occurring. He ultimately struck a guardrail while attempting to enter Interstate 95 at exit 17. The crash caused the vehicle to spin out and provided the victim with an opportunity to exit and flee. While attempting to run from the accident scene, the victim alleged that Ferreira began to drive at them. The victim was able to evade him and then reported hiding in the area before ultimately being picked up. An arrest warrant was sought and granted for Ferreira in connection with this investigation. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Ferreira, who was currently incarcerated on an unrelated matter, was transported to Stamford Superior Court to facilitate service of the active arrest warrant. Per the warrant he was formally charged with Harassment Second Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault First Degree, Assault Third Degree, Threatening Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment First Degree and Kidnapping First Degree. His bond was set by the court at $500,000.00. He was unable to post this bond and was scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court later that same day.
