Funny Money In Westport

At approximately 3:28 p.m. on November 23, 2013, an employee from Olympia Sports, 403 Post Road East, reported that a male was attempting to pay for merchandise with what the employee believed to be a counterfeit $100.00 bill. The employee would not accept the bill after noticing it was counterfeit. The suspect left the bill behind and fled the scene. The employee provided a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle to police. Officer Thomas Casimiro located the vehicle on Compo Road North shortly after the crime occurred. The vehicle was stopped and the three occupants were detained. No Animals at Westport Beaches Effective April 1

Westport Parks & Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy today reminded citizens that as of April 1 the “no animals at the beaches” regulation will be in effect.  It includes Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches. “Animals will not be permitted on any beach property, which includes all grass, sand, and the parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area,” said McCarthy.  “This regulation will be in effect until Oct. 1.” Parking emblems will be required on all vehicles entering town beaches beginning Tuesday, May 1.

#Westport CT-- On January 16, 2013 Westport Detectives were contacted regarding an internal theft of over $75,000 from local company. Detectives assisted by the CT Financial Crimes Task Force investigated the complaint and executed multiple search warrants. Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Westport

Westport CT-- At approximately 6 pm Saturday night  the Westport Police Department received a report of a pedestrian having been struck by a motor vehicle on the Post Road by Bulkley Avenue North. Arriving officers found the victim, an elderly male lying in the westbound lane next to the vehicle and immediately began medical treatment. The victim was transported from the accident scene to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS where he was later pronounced deceased.  Police Department identified the deceased person as Bruce Tabackman, age 68, of Fairfield, CT. Man With Gun Arrested In Road Rage Incident

(Westport, CT)    Thursday, February 28, 2013, at approximately 5:02pm, Westport Police Dispatch received a 911 call of a road rage incident involving a firearm.  The caller reported he was traveling east on Post Road East approaching the Bulkley Avenue intersection when a white male jumped out of his vehicle and pointed a black hand gun at him.  The caller was able to obtain the license plate of the vehicle which was registered in Trumbull.  The operator and vehicle description were given to Fairfield Police as this was their direction of travel.  Fairfield Police located the suspect vehicle on Pemburn Drive in their town and waited for Westport officers to arrive and investigate the incident.  A black Glock 9mm semi automatic…
