(WESTPORT, CT) – The Westport Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Westport Police Athletic League and the Westport Downtown Merchant’s Association, will be holding its annual Halloween Parade in the center of town on Wednesday, October 28th, with a rain date of October 29th. This is a very popular event that attracts hundreds of people. To accommodate the large volume of pedestrian traffic, several roadways in and around the parade route will be closed during the event. Man Charged in Westport Kidnapping and Assault

On Friday, October 16, 2026, a complainant came to police headquarters wishing to report an incident that had occurred on Thursday, October 15. What was determined to be the victim in this incident reported that they had recently ended a relationship with Vanderval Ferreria. This apparently upset Ferreira who made several telephone calls and sent several threatening text messages over a period of days. These messages included threats to kill the victim. The victim eventually agreed to meet with Ferreira and entered a vehicle that he was operating. Ferreria was reportedly driving extremely erratically through various Westport roads causing the victim to attempt to exit the vehicle in fear. Westport Police Department Reports Residential Mail Theft (Westport, CT) On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Westport Police Department responded to multiple reports of mail that had been discarded in various neighborhoods. Investigation suggests that these recovered items had been stolen from the mailboxes of private residences. These thefts are believed to have occurred in the early morning/overnight hours of this same date. At present, open and otherwise discarded mail and opened packages have been recovered in neighborhoods on the south side of town, specifically the Hillspoint Road, Prospect Road, Greens Farms Road and Compo Beach areas. The group ride route will begin on Jesup Road, continue onto Imperial Avenue, Bridge Street, and Riverside Avenue, and conclude back on Jesup Road. Arrest Made In Bank Fraud Case

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, a complainant came to police headquarters reporting that he had been the victim of bank fraud. He had been advised that an individual had made an in-person unauthorized wire transfer from one of his accounts to another unaffiliated account in the amount of $89,000.00. Through investigation, John Hammonds was developed as a suspect in this incident. It is alleged that it was Hammonds who had conducted the transaction at an M&T bank branch located within the state of New York by representing himself as the victim. Warning Against After-Hours Compo Beach Gatherings

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 2:40am, the Westport Police Department received a complaint of a stolen motor vehicle from the Westport Saugatuck Railroad Station. The victim explained that he had parked the Jeep at approximately 6:15pm on Friday, June 5, 2026, and returned to the lot to find it missing. He further reported that after locking the vehicle he had hidden the ignition key within the exterior mounted spare tire. On the afternoon of Thursday, June 11, 2026, Bridgeport Police recovered the vehicle on Fairfield Avenue within their city. It was unoccupied at the time of recovery. Arrest Made In Motor Vehicle Larceny

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 25, 2026, an employee of Volvo of Westport, 556 Post Road East, contacted police to report a stolen motor vehicle; a 2022 Rivian. The car was equipped with a tracking feature that when activated showed its location as 1320 Post Road East in Westport. Officers responded there and discovered it was parked and unoccupied in the rear of the lot. Surveillance showed that the suspects in the vehicle theft were possibly same as those in an overnight burglary that had occurred on the same date and near the location where the Rivian was recovered. Arrest Made in Check Fraud Case

On March 31, 2026, a financial officer for Maplewood Senior Living of Westport reported that the business had been the victim of check fraud. Three checks mailed as payments to the same vendor between October 2025 and February 2026 had allegedly been intercepted and altered to name different payees. One of the checks, in the amount of $12,085.12, was altered to list 25-year-old Tiery Mene of Rahway, New Jersey, as the payee. Further investigation, including the execution of search warrants for bank records, allegedly showed that Mene deposited the check into his personal account. Westport Provides Flood Recovery Update

WESTPORT, CT — Following yesterday’s significant flooding throughout Westport, Town crews continue working to evaluate roads, drainage systems, public infrastructure and other affected areas. Residents may continue to encounter standing water, debris, and other impacts as cleanup and inspections proceed. Residents should continue to remain cautious and avoid areas that may still be hazardous. Westport emergency responders handled 130 flood-related calls, rescued 13 people from vehicles and evacuated five residents from a care facility.
