Governor’s Plans To End Veteran’s Homelessness

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, veterans, veterans' advocates and local, state and federal officials, today laid out several of his proposals aimed at combatting veterans' homelessness and unemployment in Connecticut. The initiatives, which Governor Malloy introduced last week, focus specifically on working with public and private sector partners to end veterans' homeless by 2015 by assisting veterans with employment and increasing residential opportunities for homeless veterans or those at risk of becoming homeless. Bridgeport News: Barnum School Evacuated For Electrical Fire

#Bridgeport CT--Barnum School started off with a flash dance in the morning a flash electrical fire by the morning.  The school was evacuated, I'm sure most thought it was the first fire drill of the year but it was the real deal.   Firefighters were quick on the scene and located a smoke condition on the second floor.  The found the source to be a defective/melted electrical outlet. My initial report was: 1:00pm--#UPDATE: Initial radio reports say a faulty electrical circuit on the 2nd floor. 12:50pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters on scene of Barnum School at 450 Waterview Avenue for a odor of smoke inside the school.

Do you Know This Bank Robber?

#Stratford CT---On 08-25-2015 the TD Bank located on Stratford Avenue in Stratford was robbed by an unknown male.  The robbery occurred at 1050 in the morning.  No weapon was displayed.  The suspect is described as a black male, thin build wearing a blue T-shirt, tan pants a backpack and camouflage hat.  Approximately $580 was taken.  There is a $1000 dollar reward being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information please contact Detective Jennifer Murolo at 203-385-4127. Westport News: Structure Fire

11:39pm--#Westport CT-- Firefighters on scene of a structure fire at 6 Leslie Lane.  Firefighters had the bulk of the fire within 10 minutes.  First and second searches of the home found no one inside.  The fire extended into the attic, firefighters are now chasing hot spots and opening walls to check for extensions.   I hope they call our sponsor who will make it Like It Never Even Happened!

Westport News: Scaffold Collapse

3:34pm--Westport CT--    The Westport Fire Department responded to a scaffold collapse with two construction works injured at the Bedford Square construction site.  Two construction works were getting setup on the 2nd floor to cut steel as part of the ongoing renovations and construction at 52 Post Road East as part of the project when the scaffold they were using tipped over. One worker was on the scaffold and the other was hit by it; both suffered non-life threating leg injuries.  Westport EMS and Police also responded providing primary patient care while firefighters used ropes and rigging to set up a lowering system to remove the two construction workers from the 2nd floor of building.
