With the start of the tax season, the Stratford Police Department would like to remind residents to be aware of tax scams that occur at this time of year. The IRS will not conduct investigations over the phone or demand money from a citizen especially in the form of a money order or gift card.. If anyone should fall victim to a telephone or mail tax fraud scam they are encouraged to report the incident immediately to the Stratford Police Department.
