UPDATE: Sources say the dishwasher caught fire…

5:43pm–#Fairfield Connecticut–Firefighters were met with heavy smoke from the front door when they arrived at 182 Alden Street and found a fire in the kitchen Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola told me.  The power was secured at the breaker box by firefighters and they check to see if the fire had extended to the second floor or basement.  The fire marshal was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
