Westport Fire Department Showing Respect

Members of Platoon 1 of the Westport Fire Department are pictured here in Traditional Military Green Fire Tee Shirts. The military shirts are a way of showing our patriotism and honoring our members who are military veterans. The Westport Fire Department has many members who are serving, or have served, in various branches of our Government protecting us both here and throughout the world. The Westport Fire Department asks all citizens to remember in your thoughts and prayers your public servants this 4 th of July. Stratford News: Man Accidently Shoots Himself

UPDATE: Police Press Release:  Keil Helenese age 32 of Bridgeport was arrested in Stratford on Sunday, July 3 rd for weapons related charges. Helenese was at a picnic on Quail Street when a firearm he was carrying fell out of the holster. Helenese re-holstered the weapon and negligently discharged one round from the weapon. The bullet struck him in the hip. He was treated and released from the hospital at which time he was arrested for charges listed below. Today’s Vehicle Fire

6:40pm--#Westport Connecticut--The Westport Fire department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on the Merritt Parkway Southbound at exit 42. The initial dispatch was for Engine 6, Engine 2 and the Shift Commander. Engine 6 arrived first and reported a fully involved passenger vehicle fire in the breakdown lane. Engine 2 arrived shortly after and both companies worked to extinguish the fire and provide overhaul. One lane of travel was temporarily shut down during firefighting operations. Connecticut State Police assisted on scene with traffic control. Did You Notice An Increase At The Pumps?

Did you notice an increase at the pump?  It wasn't the holiday driving causing it but the petroleum gross receipts tax, which is a percentage of the wholesale price of gasoline and is charged to companies distributing petroleum products in Connecticut, increases from 7 percent to 8.1 percent.
