#Bridgeport CT– Yesterday, the City of Bridgeport held a dedication of the new football field at Harding High School. The field was named after John L. Lewis. John Lewis touched the souls of many. Not just his family but many who said he helped keep them off the streets. Many alumni told me they wouldn’t know where they would be without him.

Mayor Joseph Ganim also declared the day John L. Lewis Day, presenting a proclamation to his widow Beverly Lewis. Beverly said her husband “was always quiet, to a point except when he was on the field…he didn’t smile, but I can say now after a night like tonight I bet he’s smiling now”!
