11:33am--#Bridgeport CT-- The Bridgeport Firefighters were called to help extricate a woman from her car at a crash on Park Avenue near Queen Street. The woman was taken to the hospital. The other vehicle, a jeep came to a rest at a bench at a bus stop on the Fairfield side. The roadway was closed for a period of time.

Bridgeport News: Woman Blows Hands Off Thinking She Was Lighting A Candle

Fire Marshal UPDATE: The Bridgeport fire Marshal’s office has concluded its initial investigation of this incident. This was a tragic accident. What appears to have happened is that when the family living at 1248 Lindley St. in Bridgeport lost power as a result of last night’s thunderstorms, and an attempt was made to go to Home Depot to purchase emergency lighting. Home Depot was closed. The family remembered that when they purchased their home two years ago, there were a couple of what they thought were candles left in the basement by the previous residents of the home or homeowners. Trumbull News: Man Shot

UPDATE: Police say an 18-year-old forced his way into a home and the 72-year-old homeowner shot him in the stomach. The teen was seen running in the street attempting to stop passing cars. The teen has mental disabilities and sometimes act out violently. He is listed in stable condition.
