Police UPDATE:

On March 8, 2023, at approximately 2:50 pm the Bridgeport Police Department received reports of shots fired near the intersection of State Street & Iranistan Avenue.  Police Officers responded to the area and located a 52-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the leg.  He was quickly transported to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  No suspect information at this time.  The Detective Bureau has responded and taken over the investigation.  Detectives have collected evidence in the 800 block of Iranistan Avenue and are currently conducting interviews.  The scene on Iranistan Avenue is now clear of police activity and has been reopened to the public.  This appears to be an isolated incident.
