Police said in a statement:
“On November 26, 2023, at approximately 6:55 a.m. Bridgeport Police Officers responded to a residence located within the 200 block of Berkshire Avenue on reports of an armed home invasion and attempted robbery. The 37-year-old homeowner (male victim) was able to fight off the attacker who was armed with a handgun. The suspect fled the residence, entered a SUV style vehicle parked nearby, and left the area. The suspect is described as a thin Black male, approximately 5’7” tall, and wearing a ski mask. No further descriptors are available at this time. The suspect specifically targeted the 37-year-old male victim at his home.

The Detective Bureau’s Robbery Squad has responded and taken charge of the investigation. They are being assisted by the Department’s Forensic Identification Unit. Robbery detectives have conducted interviews, canvassed the area, and are documenting their findings. Detectives assigned to the Forensic Identification Unit are in the process of collecting evidence at several eastside locations.

Special thanks to a viewer who tipped us off of a crime scene on Dover Street (near Boston Avenue) which turned out to be a home invasion. One report says shots were fired and the suspect fled out the back of the residence. Police are awaiting a search warrant for their investigation.
