The Bridgeport Police arrested a 27-year-old man from the Bronx, New York early Tuesday morning after witnesses reported he stabbed a co-worker at a construction site on Stratford Avenue and fled in his car. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his abdomen and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital.
Jose Antonio Menivar-Ramirez was taken custody at around 7:00 a.m. by the Connecticut State Police near Exit 25 southbound on Interstate 95 after receiving a description of his car from the Bridgeport Police. He was transported to Bridgeport Police Headquarters, where he was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Breach of Peace in the Second Degree. His was given a bond of $50,000.
Menivar-Ramirez received a minor injury to his face during his attack on the 32-year-old victim.
The knife used in the stabbing was recovered by officers underneath a dumpster at the construction site, which is where a hotel is being built on the East Side near the intersection of Stratford Avenue and East Main Street.
According to statements, the assault resulted from an on-going dispute between the two construction workers.
