BRIDGEPORT — A two-alarm fire displaced six adults, three children and two pets at a home in the 330 block of Hanover Street. Firefighters responded at approximately 8:34 AM and upgraded the fire to a second alarm upon arrival.

Fire Chief Cody said crews found heavy fire on the rear porches that extended into the cockloft, the void space above the top floor. Firefighters made an aggressive attack and were making progress bringing the fire under control while conducting overhaul operations.

Cody reported no injuries. According to the department’s press release, AMR evaluated one occupant as a precaution.

The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced. The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
