Mortgage Crisis Job Training Program Hosts Preventing Foreclosure Forum

The Mortgage Crisis Job Training Program (MCJTP), a project of The WorkPlace is sponsoring a resource forum to help people at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure. The event will include presentations by the Connecticut Fair Housing Center, the Housing Development Fund and the Connecticut Department of Banking. Headlining the agenda will be remarks by Connecticut Senators Andres Ayala and Anthony Musto.   The state ranks seventh in the nation in foreclosures, having experienced one foreclosure filing last year for every 752 homes, according to Realtytrac. Barbara Butler, Director of the Westport Department of Human Services announced today the return of  the newly enhanced CTWorks Career Coach at Westport Town Hall. On Thursday, March 20, the Coach will be offering a beginner’s class in Microsoft Word 2007 from 10 – 12 PM followed by an intermediate class in Word 2007 from 1-3 PM. Woman Arrested After Assault

(Bridgeport, CT – March 11, 2014) – A 22-year-old woman faces an assault charge after a dispute. Officer Dave Rivera was dispatched to 1295 Howard Ave. on a report of an assault and spoke to a victim who stated she was helping her in-laws clean an apartment that they were renting. She stated she had moved some belongings of the previous tenants to the porch so they could clean and an argument started when the previous tenants arrived to pick up their belongings. A verbal argument turned into a physical confrontation. Shooting Investigation Leads to Gun Arrest

(Bridgeport, CT – March 11, 2014) – A city man faces charges after an investigation into a weekend shooting led to a foot chase and gun seizure. Sgt. Jason Amato developed information that a shooting that wounded a 16-year-old in the thigh stemmed from a conflict between rival groups from different neighborhoods and that members of the group responsible for the shooting were in the Charles F. Greene Homes Monday. He also learned that one person in the group was in possession of a gun. First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that Governor Dannel P. Malloy has appointed Fairfield resident Louis Schueler to serve as Harbor Master for the harbors and navigable waterways of Southport. Pursuant to Sections 4-1 and 15-1 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Governor appointed Mr. Schueler to serve in this position starting March 6, 2014 with a term ending June 30, 2016 or until a successor is appointed and has qualified, whichever is longer, in succession to former Harbor Master Patrick Carroll.
