Effective Monday, August 27 through Friday, August 31, no lifeguards will be on duty at Burying Hill Beach. Lifeguards will be on duty at Burying Hill Beach from 10:00am to 6:00pm from Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3 (Labor Day). #BRIDGEPORT, CT The opening of the “Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock” exhibit by Joseph Fucigna at Housatonic Museum of Art has been postponed. The museum’s Burt Chernow Gallery is located on the campus of Housatonic Community College, and its walls and floors suffered water damage overnight when the sprinkler system activated in response to an overheated computer in a lab on the floor above. Fortunately, the museum’s collection did not experience any damage. However, the museum will be temporarily closed for maintenance starting August 23. The Museum will continue to move forward with the planned opening of the reinstallation of its permanent collection. #Bridgeport CT--For Bridgeport Police Training Academy Instructor Officer Kateema Riettie thought it was just another two-mile run with recruits, this time to the police department at 300 Congress Street. This time, however, she was greeted by Chief Of Police AJ Perez. Mayor Joesph Ganim arrived with a plaque in hand. Little did Riettie know that the department and mayor were presenting her with a plaque praising here recent athletic accomplishments like competing in the World Athletic Cup in London last July and participating in the Central American Caribbean games in Columbia late July and early this August. Chief Perez encouraged the recruits to follow in her footsteps.
