Fairfield News: Firefighters Remain Busy

1:33pm--#Fairfield CT-- After battling a large house fire last night on the Old Post Road, firefighters were called to a motorcycle accident on the Merritt Parkway.  Then they received a call for a gas inside on Pequot Avenue and a fire alarm at Mill Hill School. As I'm writing this they were just dispatched to a call of a car into the guardrail and possibly into a utility pole on the North Benson off ramp, now reports a box truck hitting an SUV.   This news report is made possible by:

Fairfield News: One Person Jumps From Burning Historic Home

#Fairfield CT-- Around 1:30 Saturday morning Fairfield Emergency Communications began receiving calls for a fire in the rear porch at the historic 480 Old Post Road. When firefighters arrived they confirmed that there was heavy fire in the back of the building. The fire quickly spread throughout the large structure. Everyone reportedly made it out of the home but one person did jump from a second story window and was taken to the hospital by EMS. Firefighters made entry through the front doors. Heavy fire could be seen from the left side of the building. It took firefighters about a half hour to bring the fire under control. Bridgeport News: Man Shot In The Neck

11:01pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police received a call that a white Mercedes was traveling down State Street while a person who was shot in the neck. A woman thought to be the driver told police the man was shot in the 500 block of Ellsworth Avenue. The woman apparently attempted to drive the man to the hospital but decided to pull over in front of the former Connecticut Post building at 410 State Street. Police quickly located the car and EMS were there quickly and transported the man to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time. Police located a crime scene in a parking lot behind the Burroughs Community Center on Ellsworth Street near Martin Terrace.

#Stratford Mobile Food Pantry Program is Extended into September

Stratford, Connecticut (August 31st, 2017) –Due to its success in July and August, the Connecticut Food Bank Mobile Pantry program will offer an additional distribution date for Stratford residents in September. The Mobile Pantry program addresses the need to decrease food insecurity by minimizing major barriers such as transportation and cost associated with purchasing fresh food.   On Tuesday, September 12th, the mobile food pantry will be located at Holy Name of Jesus Church (1950 Barnum Avenue) from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. to distribute a variety of free fresh and nutritious food to both individuals and families. Malloy Sends Cargo Plane and 8 Airmen To Texas

HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has deployed a C-130H cargo plane and eight Airmen from the 103rd Airlift Wing of the Connecticut National Guard to help with Hurricane Harvey response and recovery efforts in Texas.  The unit, which departed from the Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby this afternoon, includes C-130H pilots, crewmembers, loadmasters, and maintainers.   “We know what it’s like to experience extreme weather events, and we know how vital it is for local and state governments to work together and provide assistance during times of natural disasters or other emergencies,” Governor Malloy said.  “I thank our Connecticut Air National Guardsmen for taking on this mission to give…
