DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Practice Makes It Look Easy

9:11am--#Bridgeport CT-- You often hear me say how the firefighters in our area make difficult things looks easy. It, of course, does not happen by all by itself.  This morning Bridgeport Firefighters conducted a drill of a man trapped in a confined space with hazardous materials at the RESCO plant at 6 Howard Avenue.  They also worked with the Fairfield County Hazmat team in the simulation in how to handle and deal with the hazardous materials.

Bridgeport News: Electrical Issues

3:22pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Three separate calls all electrical related but in different parts of town. First first responders called to a crash with a utility pole snapped in half and downed electrical wires on Hadden Street in Black Rock.   Another call with downed electrical wires at Adams Street.   Firefighters just called for a structure fire but immediately recalled and the request for UI to 1282 North Avenue.   This news report is made possible by:

Bridgeport News: Two Burned In Structure Fire

1:26am--#Bridgeport CT--  Just before 1:30 Sunday morning fire broke out at 335 Seltsam Road. A sea of flames could be seen from Route 8/25 connector when firefighters first arrived. The homeowner told me he and his family were sound asleep when he heard the smoke detectors going off. Neighbors told me that they pulled an elderly woman out of the back of the house, they said she was badly burned. Radio reports said a second resident was burned in the fire. There are two dogs in the home which could not be found at this time.  The fire was so bad that firefighters initially used an exterior attack until they had the fire under control about an hour later.  This…
