DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Woman Stabbed Several Times

6:50pm-- A woman was stabbed several times in front of the Popeye's on Fairfield Avenue.  The victim is possibly a prostitute and the man had tried turning her in to police in the past according to radio reports.  The man was reported to be carrying a mallet and nails according to one radio report.  He ran to the old Mimi Dragone's lot next door and then stabbed himself.  No mention how the mallet and nails entered into play other than he was carrying them.

Norwalk Police Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday  at 11:10 am at the Gold Rush Pawn Shop located at 495 Connecticut Avenue. Suspect 1 is described as black male, approximately 6’-1”, muscular build with long dread locks. Suspect 2 is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’-9”, medium build. Suspect 2 displayed a handgun during the robbery. Westport News: Veteran Exemptions

#Westport, CT --The Westport Assessor’s Office reminds all veterans (or widows/widowers of veterans) who have served during an active period of war for at least 90 days and have received an honorable discharge to file their DD-214 in the Town Clerk’s Office prior to September 30, 2016.  The exemption is $6,000 off an assessment and will be reflected in the July 2017 tax bill.  Veterans who have already filed and are receiving an exemption do not need to re-file.    The Town of Westport also offers a local option for an additional $20,000 off of an assessment.  Please note that this is an income qualifying program.  Maximum qualifying income is $60,200 for a single veteran and $67,900 for a married…
