DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: K-9 Ruger Retired

#Fairfield CT-- There were a lot of long faces besides K-9 Rugers at the Fairfield Police Headquarters Wednesday at the Police Commissioner's meeting.  Ruger, a german shepherd canine was retired after an injury sustained in the line of duty compounded with a genetic back disability.  First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in Ruger's tenure Ruger conducted 300 narcotics searches, which ended in about 200 arrests. The K-9 also tracked 25 missing persons and about 100 suspects. He helped the surrounding towns as well. Bridgeport News: Police Apprehend Suspect, Recover Firearm In Hollywood Fashion

#Bridgeport, Conn. (September 11, Bridgeport Police Press Release) --   On September 9, 2015 at 12:45 p.m. two Bridgeport Police officers were traveling west on East Washington Ave. near the intersection of Knowlton St. when they observed a man traveling east on East Washington Ave. on a bicycle.  Torres is a possible suspect in shootings that have taken place recently in the area of Pembroke St. and Arctic St.  After spotting him, officers began following Torres on E.  Washington Ave.   Officers suspected that Torres could identify the vehicle as an unmarked police vehicle and Torres repeatedly looked back at the vehicle.  Officers observed Torres wearing a pink and black Adidas backpack which appeared to have items inside.  As officers approached…

Westport News: Embezzlement Charges

#Westport CT--On Tuesday September 8th, 2015 Tran Huynh-Storch (age 36) turned herself into the Westport Police Department after learning that there was a warrant for her arrest. The arrest warrant for Huynh-Storch stems from a larceny complaint received from her employer back in February 2015. The criminal complaint was investigated by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau. From the complaint received it is alleged that Huynh-Storch, an employee of the Post Road East business, had embezzled over $71,000.00 by double paying herself in her paycheck and direct depositing money between July 15th 2011 and January 2015. Arrested was Tran Huynh-Storch (age 36) of Fairfield Connecticut Tran Huynh-Storch was charged with Larceny 1st degree C.G.S 53a-122 Tran Huynh-Storch posted $75,000.00 bond and was issued a court date of September 23rd, 2015.…

Stratford News: Officer Involved Shooting

Update Press Release from CT State Police:  State Police Detectives Investigate Stratford Police Involved Shooting   On September 11, 2015 at approximately 5:30 a.m. the Stratford Police Department executed a search warrant at 25 Yarwood Street, Stratford, CT in their town.   During the course the search warrant, the accused approached Stratford Police Officers with a weapon – not a firearm. The suspect disobeyed orders to stop, resulting in a Stratford Police Officer discharging his duty weapon at the suspect. The suspect received non-life-threatening injuries as a result. There were no reported injuries to Stratford Police Officers.   The suspect was treated for his injuries and transported to Bridgeport hospital for further evaluation. UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Press Release Bridgeport, Conn. (September 10, 2015) -- Today, Bridgeport Police Officers with the help of neighbors arrested a man for breaking into a home on Quinlan Avenue.  At 4:17 p.m., officers responded to a reported break in at a home on Quinlan Avenue near Gilman Street. Officers set up a perimeter around the house, as they were told by witnesses that the suspects were still inside the house.
