#Bridgeport, Conn. (September 16, 2015) -- The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle Wednesday afternoon. On September 16, 2015 at 2:05 p.m., police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on South Ave. between the corner of Iranistan Ave. and Columbia St. Upon arrival on scene, police officers found a 2010 Toyota Prius had struck a bicycle being ridden by a ten-year-old female child. According to witnesses, a ten year old was riding a bike on the sidewalk, and then swerved out into the road where she was struck by the Prius. Police officers spoke with the driver of the Prius who is cooperating with the investigation. The child was transported…

Cewell Sharpe (12/17/82) of Bridgeport is a possible suspect in an open homicide case. In connection with the motor vehicle pursuit, Sharpe was charged with operating with a suspended license, reckless driving, engaging in pursuit, failure to obey a stop sign, and violating conditions of a release.
