DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport Hospital Incident

I received several texts and messages asking about the police presence. Bridgeport Police said at "3:04 PM, someone called 911 to report that a guy at Bridgeport Hospital had a gun and threatened to use it on someone else there. The Bridgeport Police went to check, but they didn't find any gun, and nobody got hurt. The Police department confirmed that there was never a gun involved at any point during the incident.Two sources told me that it was a man threatening his girlfriend and that he was arrested for threatening and violating a protective order.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Mayor Ganim, along with other city officials and veterans commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. More than 2,300 U.S. servicemen were killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Those in attendance were handed a slip of paper with the name of a servicemember to remember that individual killed in that attack. I was to remember Navy Water Tender 1st Class Stephen Pepe, 43, who was on the USS Oklahoma when it was hit by Japanese torpedoes. His body was found and identified by DNA in 2018, 77 years after his death.

Crash Shuts Down Route 8

State Police Update: On Wednesday night in Trumbull, a Norwalk man named Daniel Demichael, 34, lost his life in a collision between his Jeep and a merging Toyota Supra on Route 8, as reported by state police. A child in the back seat of the Jeep suffered minor injuries in the incident. The crash happened around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Route 8 near Exit 8. According to the investigation, Demichael was driving his 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the right lane of Route 8. Norwalk News: Burglary Suspects

The Detective Bureau is looking to identify the pictured individuals in connectionto burglaries of several motor vehicles in Norwalk on November 8, 2023. The twosuspects burglarized several vehicles parked on Muller Avenue and utilized theidentifications of the owners of the vehicles to cash over $30,000.00 in fraudulentchecks. Norwalk News: Stabbing Incident

At 4:24 PM on December 1, 2023, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of an individual sustaining a leg injury at 385 Connecticut Avenue's parking lot. Patrol division officers promptly arrived to support Norwalk Emergency Service personnel in providing medical assistance to the victim. A preliminary investigation by patrol officers uncovered that the victim, a domestic violence survivor, had been stabbed in the left thigh while seated in a vehicle with the suspect. The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital via ambulance for treatment, while officers initiated a search for the suspect.
