DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Norwalk News: Stolen Vehicles

Since January 1, 2023, there have been eighty-seven motor vehicles stolen from different residents within the City of Norwalk. Of those eighty-seven, fifty-five vehicles had the keys left in the car. Norwalk Police Officers continue to work diligently to arrest suspects in these cases and locate the vehicles. We implore the Norwalk community to ALWAYS lock all car doors and remove all valuables from within. NEVER leave keys or fobs anywhere in the vehicle, no matter how well you think they are hidden, or even if you believe the vehicle is blocked in.

Norwalk News: Firearms Arrest

On November 10, 2023, the Norwalk Police Detective Bureau took William Hinton into custody. They had a warrant, that accused him of carrying a pistol without permission. This incident goes back to April 23, 2023, at 5:34 PM when Norwalk Police Officers went to 79 Cedar Street due to a disturbance. While looking into the situation, the officers arrested William Hinton after a short chase on foot. They charged him with interfering with an officer. Patrol officers searched the area where the foot chase happened and discovered a thrown-away 9mm Glock handgun. Detectives came to the scene to carefully handle and retrieve the handgun. Manslaughter Arrest

On October 28, 2023 at 6:06 PM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call reporting anevading motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Rocks Road and Bayne Street.Norwalk Police Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Arriving officers found asingle motorcycle that was struck by the evading vehicle. The operator and passenger of themotorcycle were transported to Norwalk Hospital with significant injuries. The passenger, 59-year-old Dawn Kravarik of Norwalk was pronounced deceased at Norwalk Hospital.The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau assumed the investigation and worked alongside Officersof the Norwalk Police Crash Reconstruction Unit who interviewed victims and witnesses,collected evidence, and executed search warrants to identify the operator of the evading vehicle.As a result of their investigation, an arrest warrant was…
