DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Massive Fire

Special Thanks to Paul and Beth for their hospitality in letting me record in their backyard to get this amazing footage. At 7:05pm Fairfield's Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting smoke visible rising from the southernmost warehouse on the site of the former Fairfield Lumber. Fairfield Fire Engines 1, 2, 4, 5, Ladders 1, 2 and Car 3 were dispatched, with Lt Jay Swindon on Engine 2 first on scene confirming a working structure fire. Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir arrived on scene shortly and assumed command, calling for Engine 3 and an additional Ladder from Bridgeport. Bridgeport Fire Ladder 11 was dispatched, with Engine 10, Ladder 10, Safety 1 and Battalion 1 added to the assignment by Command. Fairfield…

Sikorsky Announces Consolidation to Stratford

Bridgeport News: Police Crime Scene Van at Greene Homes

UPDATE: Police spokesman Tim Hammoll returned my call and said there is an investigation taking place, there is no death at the building.  This and a DOA (dead on arrival) call have been on the radios since this morning, I probably blended the calls since I don't usually report DOA's. #Bridgeport CT--A person was found dead in their apartment at Greene Homes Building 4 on the 7th floor.  It does not appear to be a crime but detectives are on scene investigating, that's why the Bridgeport Police Crime Scene van is out there.  If I get any updates I'll let you know.   This report sponsored by:
