DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Stratford News: Stabbed In The Heart

#Stratford CT--A little after midnight police were called to a domestic altercation (fight) at 2590 Broadbridge Avenue where a man in his mid twenties was stabbed in the heart.  There is not a lot of information on this at this early hour but police told me it did not appear to be life threatening.  EMS transported him to St. Vincent's Hospital. Fairfield News: Attempted Break In Thwarted

UPDATE: Pedro Bruno, arrested in Fairfield for burglary January 7th was wanted for a string of burglaries in Stratford.  Only DoingItLocal.com was on the scene when Fairfield Police arrested him. 3:50pm--#Fairfield CT--Police received a 911 call from a girl on Warwick Avenue that she had locked herself in the bathroom and that her father was downstairs yelling to her to call 911.  Police was very quickly on scene and apprehended one suspect.  Other officer arriving found jewelry and wallets tossed into a yard around the corner at Jackman and Bennett Street.   The suspect did not speak English and a translator from the Connecticut State Police were called to the scene.  According to radio reports the homeowner positively identified the…

Bridgeport Police Arrest Suspect in Violent Domestic Assault

#Bridgeport, Conn. (Jan. 6, 2015) – A city man faces felony charges for abducting and assaulting his ex-girlfriend Monday. Officer Benita Bailey responded to the 100 block of Beardsley Street Monday just before 8:30 a.m. on a report of a woman calling for help because she was trapped in her room. Officers entered the house and observed a rope tied from the doorknob of the bedroom door to a kitchen sink, which prevented the door from opening. The woman expressed concern for her roommate’s safety. Fairfield Receives Over $5 Million for Storm Preparedness

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield has received over $5 million in state grants for the restoration and resiliency of existing infrastructure that was damaged by Storm Sandy. The State has allocated $30 million to a handful of communities that were severely impacted by this devastating Storm. According to a press release issued by Governor Dannel Malloy and Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein, Fairfield is one of 11 municipalities in Connecticut that has received funding to restore a suitable living environment in disaster impacted communities by rehabilitating or reconstructing existing infrastructure and adding resiliency to minimize damage from future storm events. It got more serious the more he ran, especially since he was trying to run police officer off the road. GREAT multi-agency coordination!
