DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Malloy today announced that over 900 Connecticut residents have re enrolled in college to complete their associate or bachelor’s degree at one of the 17 Connecticut State Colleges & Universities using a free course offer from the Go Back to Get Ahead  program. Motor Vehicle Leads to Seizure of Heroin, Marijuana

#Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 9, 2014 – A motor vehicle stop led to three arrests Monday afternoon.  Officer Carlos Vazquez pulled over the vehicle near the corner of East Main and Howe streets. He noticed the odor of marijuana and observed what appeared to be a bag of marijuana inside the vehicle.  The driver stated that he and his passengers had been smoking marijuana earlier.  The driver, Jaquan Bryant, 24, of Bridgeport, also indicated that the car was not licensed or insured.  As police prepared to tow the car, officers discovered 38 baggies of heroin packaged for street sale inside the vehicle. Bryant was charged with motor vehicle violations and with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell narcotics. His bond…

Bridgeport Detectives Investigate Shooting

UPDATE to a story we told you live as it was happening: #Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 9, 2014) – A city man was shot in the buttocks late Monday.  Officer Benita Bailey had responded to an unrelated call on Trumbull Avenue when she heard gunshots and observed several vehicles fleeing the area. She went to that location and was flagged down by Hakeem Clarke, 18, of Bridgeport, who stated that he had been shot.  The wound was not life threatening and he told police he did not know who shot him. Bridgeport Police Seek Homicide Suspect

#Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 9, 2014 -- The Bridgeport Police Department is asking for the public’s help in apprehending a suspect wanted in connection with the Aug. 10 fatal shooting at Park Avenue and Olive Street.  Police have an active warrant charging Fabian Francis, 17, with the killing of Ryan Hernandez, 21.  Detectives Robert Winkler and Ada Curet investigated the case. The investigation and video footage from the scene showed at least two males arriving at the location in a car and showed the victim approaching the vehicle.  Francis exited the car and a confrontation ensued between him and Hernandez. Hernandez was fatally shot during the confrontation. Last month, detectives charged a 16-year-old with conspiracy to commit murder for his role…
