DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fishing Restrictions Eased, Shell Fishing Restrictions Remain in Place (Bridgeport, Sept. 12. 2014) – After a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter flyover, the state scaled back fishing restrictions after water runoff from a massive fire Thursday left a  reddish purple film in the water. Fishing along the Bridgeport shoreline from the Fairfield border to Pleasure Beach remains banned. Recreational and commercial fishing in allowed in open water. Originally, the ban spanned from Norwalk to Milford. The ban has been lifted in the other towns. Shell fishing remains banned from Fairfield to the Housatonic River. The state DEEP and U. S. Bridgeport Firefighters Battle Massive Blaze

#Bridgeport, CT -- Sept. 11, 2014 - A massive, four-alarm blaze burned for hours and destroyed two buildings Thursday evening.  Firefighters responded to the 2100 block of Seaview Avenue and encountered heavy fire in an industrial building. A thick black smoke plume could be seen for miles into the night.  As the fire burned out of control, nearly every firefighter in the city responded. Incident commanders called the Fairfield and Stratford fire departments for mutual aid. As the fire grew in intensity and spread to a second structure, crews from the Trumbull, Westport and Norwalk departments responded to assist as well. 6:44pm--#Easton CT--EMS on the way to Sport Hill Road for a 7 month old who fell down a flight of stairs.  Earlier in a different part of Sport Hill Road EMS was dispatched for a boy who broke his arm. It was a pleasure meeting Karen Gorden at Stan's Jamaican Kitchen located at 16 Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield, right near the town line of North Avenue Bridgeport.  Stan's Jamaican Kitchen is Fairfield's ONLY Jamaican Restaurant.  They specialize in Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, Brown Stew Chicken, Escovitch Tilapia, Curry Goat (my favorite) and Curry Chicken.  Take out is their main business but there is a small window counter for eat in.  Hours are Monday through Saturday 11am to 8pm and Visa and MasterCard is accepted, delivery is not available at this time but they are working on it. Bridgeport Man Arrested For Burglary

#Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 9, 2014 – A city man was arrested for burglarizing a house on Pearl Harbor Street.  Officer Ricardo Lopez responded to the area on a report of a suspicious male walking through yards of the area.  As he arrived in the area, he learned that Officers Darryl Wilson and Ricky Dewitt-Smith had a possible suspect in custody who had fled when he saw the officers. While they were investigating, a female called out for police and reported that her house had been burglarized. Police discovered that someone had forced entry and rifled through drawers in the victim’s bedroom.  Police brought the victim to the police car and she immediately identified as hers items that had been recovered from the…

4:50pm--#Norwalk CT--A report of a collision between a tug boat and a rowing crew boat accident.  Reports say member of the rowing crew are in the water, unknown injuries.  Caller now says both boats have left the area.
