Monroe News: Fire Ravages Monroe Home
8:30pm--#Monroe CT-- A fire has left an Elm St. home uninhabitable and killed two cats Tuesday evening. The residents were not home when a passing driver spotted heavy smoke coming from 551 Elm St. around 7:10 pm. Once volunteer firefighters arrived on scene shortly thereafter, heavy flames were pouring out of the living room windows of the cape cod-style home. Six engines, two ladder trucks and a rescue truck staffed by approximately 40 volunteer firefighters from the Monroe, Stepney, and Stevenson fire departments extinguished the fire under the direction of Stepney Deputy Fire Chief Scott Rose Sr. It took crews about 45 minutes to fully extinguish the fire. 11:54am--#Fairfield CT--A woman in a white jeep called police that the fencing surrounding the dumpsters at Bob's Stores on the Post Road swung open by the gusty winds, hit her jeep and dislodging the driver's side fender.
Fairfield News: Man Takes Own Life Causing Hazmat Situation
6:06pm--#Fairfield CT-- Around 6pm Monday police received a call to check on the welfare of their friend who lived at Clinton Street. When police arrived they found the house locked and requested help from the fire department in gaining access. When firefighters arrived they found that the man took his life by drinking a vial of potassium cyanide. Assistant Fire Chief said he did not intend to harm anyone else but himself and left a warning note to first responders. Two firefighters and two police officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution and quickly released and returned to the scene. Fairfield News: 4 First Responders Exposed To Cyanide
#Fairfield CT-- Two police and two firefighters possibly exposed to cyanide during a well being check and transported to the hospital as a precaution. Police were sent for a well being check on a 70 year old man at 32 Clinton Road. The man was found dead but uncertain what took his life. Video report soon.
