9:01pm--#Bridgeport-- A purse snatching by force occurred in front of church at 849 State Street by three kids, one on a bicycle. They netted a purse, a debit card and $20. The fled on Seeley Street towards Fairfield Ave.

A federal judge has thrown out an excessive force and wrongful arrest lawsuit against two city police officers. The judge granted the city’s motion for summary judgment in Junior Huertas v James Ivanko and Omar Jimenez, meaning the case was dismissed because the judge concluded there was not enough evidence to proceed to trial. Bridgeport police were attempting to clear the crowded streets after the Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 12, 2009. It was estimated that there were 2,500 to 3,000 revelers in the area of Park Avenue. 2:21pm--#Bridgeport- A man working on at building at Wood and Wade Street hit his ladder onto a power line and has been electrocuted. Fire, EMS on scene. He is a 27 year old male and is unresponsive at this time. On the way to St. V's.
Westport Parks & Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy today reminded citizens that as of April 1 the “no animals at the beaches” regulation will be in effect. It includes Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches. “Animals will not be permitted on any beach property, which includes all grass, sand, and the parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area,” said McCarthy. “This regulation will be in effect until Oct. 1.” Parking emblems will be required on all vehicles entering town beaches beginning Tuesday, May 1.
