©2:42pm–Bridgeport–Report of a man armed with a shot gun firing in the area of Reservoir Ave and Soundview Ave.  Multiple calls coming in, police on the way.  2:49 UPDATE -Police on scene find nothing.  Interviewing neighbors and they say the shots sounded as if it came from Trumbull Ave. area.  Police locate nothing. 3:14pm–Police still on the scene investigating.

©1:28am–Bridgeport–Multiple guns shots at Marina Village, patrol officer reporting at least 20 shots fired.  Officers on scene agree it came from a hand gun(s).    Two victims down at Columbia and South  and Columbia Ridge Streets (not intersecting streets but description for Marina Village) .  One victim very serious the other serious, one transported to St. Vincent’s the other to Bridgeport Hospital.  Police chase down 2  black males all in dark clothing heading  down Columbia Street heading towards UB.    Suspects found under the parking garage at 557 Atlantic Street.  Police also had to hand a large crowd at the crime scene.  Police are still processing the crime scene.

 

Bridgeport–Shortly after 11:00pm tonight shotguns rang out at 370 Center Street.  .  Calls also came in from Grand street as well for the same shooting.  Police are looking for a black pickup truck that shot into the air in the area, but at any person or property.

 

Ted Koppy let go at WTNH. As his bio on WTNH’s website says: “Ted Koppy served as an anchor and general assignment reporter for News 8 from October 2004 until April of 2011.”   We have been told by sources that he was “paid out” through October when his contract runs out.

Recently Geoff Fox’s contract was not renewed without negotiations with Fox.  Online protests erupted  until Fox61 recently hired him.    On a personal note it was always a pleasure working with Ted at many news stories, he is a true professional.

9:35am–Bridgeport–A woman falls from train platform while walking distracted breaking both legs. MTA says video shows a woman walking backwards looking at either wallet or cell phone then disappearing off platform.  She was identified as Hyang Ja Bak Lee, thought to be from New York City.  She was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where her condition remains unknown.

3:11pm–Trumbull–This four door wagon caught fire tying up traffic until fire department was able to put out the blaze. Special thanks to Frank Dux for uploading the photo to us. No word on any injuries, we will update if we get any updates.

10:43am–Stratford–Route 110 at Sikorsky where fatal motorcycle accident occurred has reopened.10:52–Stratford–Main Street by Sikorsky’s a car accident with a car on fire. 11:18pm–Bridgeport—A man from 77 Lenox was just robbed by 3 black males armed with a shot gun fleeing on Fairfield Ave. on two bicycles. Victim says they are little kids. One black male was about 4”8” 110 lbs wearing a black sweatshirt black jeans. 2nd party wearing all black, hat, tee shirt and jeans armed with a sawed off shot gun fleeing on a freestyle 20” black bike. 3rd party also wearing all black riding on the handle bars. The youths took off on Fairfield Avenue.

10:43pm–Bridgeport–Roll over accident on Route 8 exit 4 crossed over the southbound lanes and rolled over. Multiple vehicles involved. UPDATERoll over accident Route 8 by exit 4 roll over driver fled the scene. Police are looking for a Mexican male fled o n foot southbound possibly across near Main Street. UPDATE-Route 8 Main Street exit ramp southbound shut down by police for manhunt for man that fled roll over accident near exit 4. Lots of PD activity. UPDATE–Police have their man, one in custody.

An 81 year old woman was rescued by fire fighters after she crashed in to a guardrail over a small stream at Post Road East and the Sherwood Island Connector. The woman received minor injuries from the accident.

11:56am–Bridgeport–Shots fired at 340 Trumbull Ave. Apartment A- 6 shots fired and a person grazed by a bullet. All people in the apartment have locked themselves in the bathroom, they possibly know who is responsible. 12:10pm–UPDATE–Bridgeport–Detective Bureau to investigate shooting at 341A (corrected) Trumbull Ave. Canine en route to track shooter. Multiple shots in the apartment one minor injury.

11:25am–Bridgeport–Report of a garage fire at 713 Ogden Street Extended. Fire now on scene reporting light smoke showing. ‎11:29am–UPDATE–Fire dept. reports there is a fire in the garage, roofing material inside burning. Garage is detached and posses no threat to house in the area.

Multiple shots in the apartment one minor injury.

 

9:33pm–Bridgeport-Fire department called to 28 Autumn Street but the call was for 161 Spring Street.  Turns out to be a BBQ grill on the second floor, no fire no entry to the building.   A friendly reminder- BBQ grills in multi-family homes in Bridgeport is illegal for this very reason.

2:11am–Bridgeport–Fire Department quickly knocks down a kitchen fire at 130 Monroe Street on the second floor.  Stove fire extends slightly into the ceiling.  Fire department now reporting a domestic dispute taking place at the rear of the building, requesting police to respond.

10:25pm–Fairfield–A purse snatching just occurred at the Stop and Shop on Tunxis Hill, suspects ran out the door, chased by unknown parties and apprehend.   Here is an extended report from ConnPost.com.

4:47pm–Bridgeport–Driver paying more attention to the detective’s police car than the road crashes into the liquor store behind Green homes on Lexington and Harral Ave.

1:15pm–Fairfield–One youth was arrested today for shooting a BB gun near the law offices of the 500 block of Black Rock Turnpike (near CVS/Star Service Station). Allegedly he shot at people passing by yesterday and shot a Castle Avenue youth in the back twice today from his second floor window.  Lieutenant Jim Perez of the Fairfield Police Department credited the youth that was shot to have the presence of mind to not only get a house number from where the shots were coming from.   The youth doing the shooting was arrested on charges of Assault 2nd Degree, Breech of Peace, Reckless Endangerment and Risk of Injury to a Minor.  The youth that was shot suffered welts where the BBs struck him.

10:38am—Fairfield—A anonymous citizen calls police that at  225 Old South Road a pedestrian was struck by a dark blue or black Audi station wagon with a broke windshield.   The  car continued on Old South and continued towards Harbor.  Pedestrian also fled the scene, possibly due to a language barrier.  Police are investigating.

 

At 9:34 pm the Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a truck on fire on Interstate 95 southbound between exits 24 and 23. Additional 911 calls were received and witness reports indicated that a tractor trailer containing unknown materials was on fire in the northbound lanes.  The driver was located outside of the truck after he self rescued himself. The driver of the truck was transported by AMR to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car was also transported to Bridgeport Hospital with unspecified traumatic injuries.  Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson stated, “The intense heat from the burning diesel fuel in the storm drains cause the concrete median to explode into pieces across all three lanes of the highway making the scene very dangerous for all emergency responders and bystanders.” The last Fairfield fire unit cleared the scene at 11:16 PM.    The contents of the trailer were identified as non-hazardous video equipment and were exposed to heat and smoke from the cab fire. Four engines, one ladder and the fire department shift commander responded to the scene.

1:22am–Fairfield–Fire department spend about 5 hours at the accident scene on I-95 where a tractor trailer accident/fire. Two were sent to the hospital with serious injuries. Awaiting further info from the fire department.

1:11:pm–Bridgeport–If you are going to steal pipes from a vacant business don’t do it in plain view of the fire department, they will call the police. Two nabbed stealing pipes from the old Ocean Grill on Main and Congress.

10:19–Bridgeport–An armed robbery just occurred at 224 French Street, no mention if it was in the house or outside. Victim was robbed of cash and his cell phone. Suspect used a silver handgun and took off down French Street towards Capital Ave.

Bridgeport–Fire department kept busy tonight, reporting to a bedroom fire at 27 Park Street which they quickly put out and then immediately dispatched to 320 Mapledale place to put out a kitchen blaze.

Bridgeport–Have it your way but not tonight. The Burger King at 4190 Main Street received a anonymous call that the store would be robbed tonight. Police will be taking precautions.

McKinley School Carnival at Jennings Beach–Weather permitting that we will be doing a wristband day from 1-5.  Carnival-goers who buy a wristband for $20 will be able to ride all the rides they want!

12:55am–Bridgeport–Reports of shots fired at 310 South Ave, Marina Village rear of building 23, one person shot in the leg. Police on the way. 1:01am–UPDATE–After a slight delay in locating the victim, police request dispatch to “step up the medics”.

11:55pm–Bridgeport–Pedestrian struck by a truck at Orange and Wilmont Ave.

10:36pm–Bridgeport–Police are reporting a riot at 399 Jane Street. AMR called in to standby for those tazed. UPDATE: Police have it under control now, AMR and PD transporting one to the hospital.

Fox, with more than 26 years of experience forecasting weather in Connecticut, will begin on Fox CT Monday, April 18th.

His role will expand beyond weather forecasting, as he will deliver science and technology reports for the 4 p.m. newscast. Fox will forecast the weather during the 11 p.m. news. Meteorologist Rachel Frank will continue reporting the weather during the 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts

Fairfield schools have sent home a notice informing parents that yesterday, a student was crossing Fairfield Woods Road towards Palamar Drive. The student said a man in a white van attempted to call her over and then exposed himself. The student reported the incident to her parents and police. If anyone has any information they should call Sgt. Ed Weihe at the Fairfield Police Dept. at 203-354-4808

Happenings NOW 4-11

11:33am–Bridgeport–Police spotted the dark colored Dodge Charger responsible for the drive by shooting on Hollister Ave. this weekend. The vehicle was last seen on Madison Ave. heading towards Central High School.

11:11am–Bridgeport–A Washington Ave. resident says she was kidnapped and held against her will by a known party over the weekend. She is being treated at Norwalk Hospital and police are investigating.

2:18am–Bridgeport– The McDonald’s at 4219 Main Street (By Vincellette St.) was just robbed by a black male wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and blue jeans and displayed a small silver revolver. Unknown if he fled on foot or by car because walked up to the drive thru. 2:26am–UPDATE–Canine is tracking the suspect on Lourmel Street. 2:31am–Canine lost the scent at the top of Lourmel, police suspect a car was parked there for get away.

4/10/2011
1:35am–Bridgeport–Police suspect car bombing at car fire at 757 Madison Ave (near the Hookah Lounge). Police are investigating.

9:38pm–Bridgeport–Police reporting approximately 10-15 rounds shot at 170 Hollister Ave. Medics called to the scene. A very clean black newer model Dodge Charger, black male driver, 6 foot tall slender built wearing all black responsible for the shooting.

Bridgeport Fire Department responded to a fire at 556 Carroll Ave shortly before noon today. The fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to the attic. They have requested the arson investigation team to the scene. The Red Cross is helping relocate those living in the apartments.
