9:30am–Bridgeport–Citi Bank 4531 Main Street was robbed this morning by an African-American man wearing a camouflage jacket & sunglasses walked in…handed a note to a teller…indicated he had a weapon…left with an undetermined amount of cash. Nobody was injured. He may have fled in a tan Mercedes bearing antique car plates. More details and updates when we get them.
Fairfield–Fire department contained a blaze at 157 Brentwood Avenue to just one unit of a four-unit condominium. The fire appeared to have started on the third floor in a rear room used as an office. One fire fighter was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for dehydration; several pets and occupants of adjacent units were removed unharmed.
Story of man calling 911 for beer delivery NOT true-Tim Quinn, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department issued the following statement to clarify the facts:
Sunday night, about 6:30, there was a 9-1-1 call from a Queen Street address in the north end. AMR sent an ambulance and they later called police. The man who called to the paramedics he was lonely and wanted them to stay and visit. When they said they couldn’t, he offered them $20 worth of change to stay. Police were informed by an AMR Supervisor this party has called them 79 times this year and none of the runs have turned out to be anything. This was also the 3rd call for Sunday alone. A neighbor says the guy drinks and pays people to go to the store to buy him beer. He did NOT call 9-1-1 and ask them to bring him beer, as has been wrongly reported. He was arrested for misuse of the Emergency 9-1-1 system and bond was set at $500. His name is Raymond Roberge…he is 65 years old.
12:08am–Bridgeport–Police are investigating a naked male in the streets yelling he is going to kill someone at Williston Street and Bunnell Streets. Police are also investigating a hold up at 670 West Taft Avenue. Police are looking for two black males, one a 6 foot, black and white hoodie brandished a black and silver handgun, the other was five foot 7 incheswearing a red Yankee baseball cap with backpack containing an assortment of prescription drugs.
Milford–Report of a robbery that took place in Macy at the Connecticut Post Mall has the mall in a lock down. WTNH has a crew on the way, we will keep you posted with any developments and updates. WTNH News 8’s Bob Wilson says lockdown lifted at Milford Mall. Fox61 reporting that a man smashed a display case stealing items, he displayed a gun and ran out to the parking lot. WTNH reporting: ” The suspect is described as a black male, about 5’10” tall with an average build, mustache and beard. He was wearing a black knit cap with a Harley Davidson logo, blue jeans, a white colored shirt, a gray sports coat and black, thick-rimmed glasses.”

5/8 @ 11:45pm–Bridgeport–Shooting near 2084 East Main Street. One person hit being transported in a private vehicle to the hospital with police escort. Police are looking for a two door white car fleeing the scene towards Beardsley Park. No further description, make or model given by witnesses. 11:56–UPDATE–Victim has a gunshot wound to the chest. Only description given to the police was the shooter was a male wearing a black hoodie. This is breaking news being reported as it happens, details can and will change as police give more information. 12:07am UPDATE– From the victim, two males responsible for the shooting are two black males, wear all black. One wearing a black hat that said “Sox” as in the baseball White Sox Team Hat. Victim did not see them flee in a vehicle, witnesses called in the white car. 12:43am–UPDATE–Shell casings found in a drive from the scene. Canine on the scene trying to track a scent.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday. We don’t normally report on fender benders but it is rare to see a Brinks Armored Truck and a Jaguar involved in one. It occurred in Fairfield on Kings Highway at the traffic circle in front of Staples. There were no reported injuries, the Jaguar received damage to the rear bumper.
As we exclusively reported last night here is the official police report so far regarding the two dogs hit and dragged on Maplewood Ave. in Bridgeport:
Officer was on patrol on Maplewood Avenue and came across an American Bulldog lying on the side of the road. The dog’s owner was there. Albio Barreira lives on Maplewood Avenue in Bridgeport. He told the officer his other dog had also been hit. The dog was discovered about 150 feet up the road. He gave police a description of the car he says hit the two dogs then drove off. He described the vehicle as a Honda Civic, late 90’s, red with a black hood, and with damage to the right headlight. Some vehicles matching the general description were stopped but none had the damage described by him. No arrests yet.
6:06pm–Bridgeport–Police are looking for a red Honda with a black hood that struck two dogs on Maplewood Ave. and dragged one for over 100 feet before fleeing the scene.. Police say the vehicle should have a broken headlight area where the dog was struck.
5:22pm–Bridgeport–A pedestrian was struck at the corner of Fairfield Avenue between Wendy’s and Super Stop and Shop. Responders on the scene have told me that the pedestrian was not seriously injured but was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Two women were shot in the hip, possibly by a black vehicle was the only description given tonight at Columbia Street in Bridgeport. This is the second shooting in the area today alone. Last week two men were shot, one fatally.
2:20am–Bridgeport–Man shot in the leg in the parking lot across from Frankie’s Diner on 1660 Barnum Avenue. Police investigate, non-life threatening injuries. This turns out to be an attempted robbery.
12:57pm–Fairfield–I-95 Northbound- Rollover accident at the Round Hill Exit Rest Stop with at least one ejected from the the vehicle. Fire department reports two injured, one serious.
12:14am–Fairfield–Wrong way driver on the Merritt Parkway refuses to stop near exit 44 in “no man’s land” area. State Police block the road and place stop sticks. Driver finally stops after hitting the spike sticks.
Party going on until 10pm tonight! Benefit for those burned out of the fire on Fairfield Ave. last month.
1:52am—Bridgeport—Another stabbing this time at 649 Hallett Street (near Artctic St.) by an unknown assailant. Victim has a small laceration, does not want police, refuses ambulance and wants to go to the hospital on his own.
11:31pm–Bridgeport–Bridgeport–Police are looking for a red Honda with CT Plates 799 YEB involved in a retaliation shooting that just took place on Park Street and Ogden Street just now, no one was injured. The retaliation shooting was from a shooting that took place at Club Lo a month ago.
11:06pm–Bridgeport–Police nab 2 cars and six detained after two cars try to run off or box in a victim in the Mill Hill section of Boston Ave.
9:41pm—Bridgeport–Man stabbed possible shooting at 472A Trumbull Ave. No one cooperating with police.
Police Report on Hollister Ave. Home Invasion:
Shortly before 4pm, a husband and wife living on Hollister Avenue say two African-American teenage youths walked into their home when one of the two teens pulled a weapon and demanded money. They took about $1100 and the couple’s cell phone then ran off.
That was the only phone in the house, so the wife ran to a nearby
store to call police. The couple gave police the description of the two boys.
Within a half hour, police found the money and arrested one of the two
suspects. One of the victims positively identified the boy as the one who pulled the gun.
As of 5 pm police were still actively searching for the second suspect
and are being assisted by the K-9 Unit. The suspect is described as a black teenager, about 16 years old, 5’11”, wearing a maroon shirt, jeans and black sneakers.
Anyone with any information should call Bridgeport Police at 203 – 576 -7671 There are no reports of any injuries at this time.
3:51pm–Bridgeport 451 Hollister Ave. Home invasion by two black male who is sixteen years old and armed with a gun. One is dressed in a blue hoodie and jeans just left location running out the back to Wilmont Ave. Apparently known by the victim nickname is Quill. Updates as we get them. No description on the second assailant. Over $200 and victims cell phone taken. 4:05–UPDATE–Money found behind the house, one party now detained at 500 Carol Ave. Police are pinging the cell phone that was taken, phone company says it has been turned off and they are unable to find it’s location.
4:00am–Fairfield– Fire fighters arrive to find a car that had struck the rear of a parked truck at the entrance to the rest area. The driver of the car was ejected from the auto and trapped under the auto. Firefighters from engines 1and 2 and ladders 1 and 2 used air bags cribbing and hydraulic rescue took to extricated the trapped driver. Car 3 Assistant Chief Douglas Chavenello was commanding the operation and the entire extricating took approximately 30 min. AMR paramedics treated the driver during the extrication and transported him to St Vincent’s hospital with serious injuries.
