#Westport CT--On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, an officer began an investigation into Jaiman Shah based on a complaint made by his former employer that through various means he had used company funds to make personal purchases. This initial investigation led to prior criminal charges against Shah and prompted his former employer to further review Shah’s activities while employed with the company. This included a review of Shah’s credit card purchases, corporate e-mails, and expense reimbursements. This investigation yielded new information not previously reported to police suggesting that Shah had made additional personal purchases which, through various means, he attempted to pass as legitimate work-related expenses. Fairfield Fire Department UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle, who was a minor, was not present at the time of arrival, but was located and returned to the scene. He was evaluated by American Medical Response and found to only suffer a minor injury that did not require hospital transport. 2020-03-07@9:30am--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire located at 888 North Ave at 9:30am. The first unit reported smoke showing from the rear of the building. The fire was contained to a small are in the walls on the second floor. No injuries occurred at the fire. Searches of the building were negative. No one was inside at the time of the fire. Businesses occupy both floors, so no one was displaced. The fire is under investigation with the Fire Marshals Division.

The City of Bridgeport was notified today by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health regarding the first confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) within this jurisdiction. The confirmed case involves a physician from New York State who rounded at Bridgeport Hospital, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 6, 2020. “As we discussed yesterday during our City of Bridgeport Emergency Operations briefing, the EOC and Department of Public Health Teams remain in continual contact with all local, regional, state and federal partners to ensure we have the most up to date information and strategies regarding this virus” stated Mayor Ganim.
