Bridgeport News: City Reorganization, Still No Police Public Affairs Officer

Bridgeport, CT— The City of Bridgeport announced today that the administration is implementing a reorganization plan aimed at 1) improving city operations; 2) cleaning up the city; and, 3) building stronger relationships with the business community. This reorganization is the result of efforts that started pre-pandemic, but which was crafted as the result of conversations between departments heads and senior city officials over the course of the last two months.  This reorganization is focused on the greatest areas of need for the City, which include permitting, licensing, and code enforcement, illegal dumping and graffiti, attracting new businesses to the City, streamlining city services, and improving government operations. Video Report with Police UPDATE: The homicide victim has been identified as 32-year-old Ramon Gonzalez-Peguero Jr. of Hartford CT. The non-fatal shooting victim has been identified as 18-year-old Kazzmaire Dorsey of Bridgeport CT. (stable condition) On July 10, 2022 at approximately 4:55 pm Bridgeport Police responded to reports of (2) subjects shot in the area of the Atlas Gas Station located within the 1700 block of Fairfield Avenue.  Upon arrival Officers located 2 victims; each suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Police Officers and medics began life saving procedures and quickly transported both victims to area hospitals.  One of the victims, identified as a 32-year-old Hartford man, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The second victim, identified as a 18-year-old Bridgeport…

Bridgeport News: 2 Shot At Greene Homes

On July 8, 2022 at approximately 11:55 pm, the Emergency Operations Center received a ShotSpotter activation (4 rounds) in the area of Building 4 within the Charles F. Greene Homes Housing Complex. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system.  Once gunshots are fired in an area covered by this service, police receive a notification within one minute directing them to the exact location of the gunfire. On July 9, 2022 at approximately 12:10 am, St. Vincent’s Hospital staff reported a 22-year-old Bridgeport man walked into their Emergency Room (ER) suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs.  Minutes later, a 23-year-old Bridgeport man walked into St. Vincent’s Hospital ER suffering from a single gunshot wound to the foot.  Both victims are listed in…

Bridgeport News: Police Update on Bus Driver Attack

2022-07-08@4:58pm--#Bridgeport CT--A caller reported a bus driver being attacked on the 1800th block of Main Street. The Responding officers were told by the caller that a male assaulted a city bus driver and took their cell phone. The medics were dispatched to evaluate the bus driver’s injuries.American Medical Response (AMR) personnel arrived on scene and evaluated the victim who had numerous superficial lacerations and redness to her hands, face, and legs. It was first reported that the victim was hospitalize by the victim declined to be transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
