2019-08-28-- Today, Mayor Joe Ganim was joined by Superintendent Testani and representatives of the Educational Task Force to launch Building Bridgeport’s Future, a “Bridgeport School Capital Improvement Plan.  Items discussed were a plan to address the the physical and technological needs for each school in the city.  Also discussed were the restoration of bus routes for the upcoming year and a new Bassick High School complete with athletic fields on the facility.

Bridgeport News: Over 30 Rounds Fired On The East Side

Bridgeport News: Bus Routes Restored

#Bridgeport, CT - In a decision made late this evening, the Bridgeport Board of Education has restored the bus routes to their original walking distances. Mayor Ganim stated, “I am pleased to hear this news that the Board has accepted our proposal put together with the City Council that will allow for the bus routes to be restored, as this also involves student safety.  I appreciate the partnership with the Superintendent, the BOE, and our council members, and am looking forward to working on future projects that will have a positive impact for our students.” This press release is made possible by:

Bridgeport News: Person Shot

2019-08-26 @ 10:40pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police's shot spotter said there were shots fire on Center Street near Greene Homes.  A short time later police St. Vincent's reported a gunshot victim arrived to the emergency room.  About fifteen minutes later a police officer on patrol heard shots fired behind building four of Greene Homes.  A car was seen speeding off.  No one or anything was reported hit.  Shell casings were located.   This news report is made possible by:

Bridgeport News: Exclusive Video From The SWAT/ESU Standoff On Pacific Street

2019-08-25 @ 8:32pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Sunday evening Jovan Boyd shot at his ex-girlfriend in front of 250 Gilman Street around 8:30pm. Responding officers found shell casing but no victim. She drove herself to police headquarters near Lyon Terrace. Boyd, shot the victim as she was seated in her vehicle. A second adult female and a three year old child were also in the car at the time of the shooting. The second female and child were not injured. but the ex-girlfriend was shot in the arm and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Boyd was tracked to 360 Pacific Street, where he was observed by officers and engaged them in a foot pursuit. Boyd was able to make it back…

Bridgeport News: 16 Year Old Boy Shot

2019-0825 @ 10:37pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police received a call for a woman screaming here 16 year old son was shot at the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Hollister Avenue.  No EMS units were called to the scene.   About ten minutes earlier Bridgeport Police received a call for a 16 year old at Bridgeport Hospital shot and it was speculated it might have occurred at Park Avenue and Gregory Street where shell casings were found.   Police spokesperson Terron Jones only confirmed this incident at Hollister and Connecticut Avenue.

Bridgeport News: Dog Rescued From Roof Twice In A Month

2019-08-25 @ 6:51pm--#Bridgeport CT--  A dog was rescued from a three story roof for the second time this month.  A dog at 58/60 Scofield Avenue pushes the screen out of the 3rd floor dormer wind and goes out on the roof.  Assistant Chief Richard Donofrio said the the dog likes going up but is afraid to get down.  The chief said the last time the dog was rescued it was a much hotter day and the dog burned his paws being up there on a hot day.  An aerial ladder truck was called in for the rescue.   Although the video shown is a minute and forty seconds, it actually took over an hour to bring the dog down.
